My name is Simon Lelieveldt. I am an industrial Engineer, active in the banking and innovative payments sector. I provide regulatory and business advice to start-ups, banks, payment institutions, trade bodies and e-money institutions.
One of my passions is the history of the Dutch financial sector. I am the curator of ‘Financieel Erfgoed’ a not-for-profit initiative that seeks to share insights on the past and future of Dutch banking, payments, supervision and such by means of guided tours, workshops or presentations.
I am the founder and acting Chairman of the Foundation Human Rights in Finance.EU. This is a foundation that seeks to stop and prevent violations of fundamental rights (privacy, ownership, innocence presumption, the right not to be discriminated against) that are committed by and through regulatorrs, supervisors and institutions as part of the rules on economic and financial transactions.
In the first year after its establishment HRIF.EU succeeded in stopping the operations of the collective banking surveillance dragnet of five Dutch banks (in which 10-40 billion transactions were monitored from 2021-2024).
